From a young age I’ve been surrounded by visual images. My interest in photography developed early but never really progressed beyond a hobby – albeit, a very passionate one. For about a decade I moved away from still photography to dabble with video. This coincided with the death of film and I had no experience with DSLRs until about two years ago. My move back to still photography has taken some adjustments. I’ve decided to take a much more serious approach to the field, enrolling in a Certificate IV in Photo Imaging at TAFE. While I’ve greatly enjoyed this course and have learnt a great deal, I’ve also discovered how digital cameras have change photography as a medium and just how competitive professional photography has become.

One of the modules I’m currently enrolled in is called ‘Experiment with techniques to enhance digital images’. It includes studying some of the more important art movements and how they’ve influenced photography. The assessment for this unit involves creating a visual diary in the form of an online blog, detailing our research into these art movements and experimentation with techniques to enhance our own images. Hence my presence here at WordPress.
